Information requests

Leduc County follows the guidelines outlined in the Leduc County Information Management Policy and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Act.

Many types of information do not require a FOIP request. If you are requesting your personal information, or sensitive information, we may require a FOIP request. If you are unsure about whether your information request requires a FOIP request, please email our FOIP coordinator.

Making a land information/ESA information request

You may request information pertaining to a particular parcel of land and whether it has any of the following:

  • landfills
  • a history of released controlled substances
  • ESA reports
  • bylaw infractions
  • fire reports
  • presence of underground/aboveground storage tanks

To request this information, please email Development Services for response. There is no need to email other departments.

Making a FOIP request

To make a FOIP request, you need to fill out a FOIP application form, enclose a payment of $25, and submit it in-person or by mail to the following address:

Leduc County Centre
101-1101 5 St.
Nisku, AB T9E 2X3

Leduc County has up to 30 days to respond to your request once the fee has been received and the request processed. This timeframe may be extended in some situations.

What information can I request?

FOIP allows you access to two types of information, as follows:

  • Personal information that includes your own personal details, such as counselling records or records of employment with the county.
  • General information for which we don’t have a routine release process, such as bylaw enforcement actions, fire investigation reports or requests for expenditures.

The FOIP Act is provincial legislation that applies to all public bodies in Alberta, including Leduc County. It allows you a right to access almost any record held by Leduc County, including records that include your personal information.
