About Leduc County

Leduc County is a vibrant community ideally located within major air, rail and road networks. We are home to 14,416 residents and key industries that include agriculture, food processing, transportation and logistics, energy and advanced manufacturing.

The County spans 105 kilometres east-to-west and 32 kilometres north-to-south, and is located immediately south of the City of Edmonton. It is bordered by Parkland County and Brazeau County in the west, Wetaskiwin County in the south and Camrose County, Beaver County and Strathcona County in the east.

Leduc County employers have access to 1.4 million people in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region. In 2020 there were roughly 71,251 students enrolled in post-secondary institutions in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region, including the University of Alberta, MacEwan University, the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) and more.

Leduc County has the lowest tax rates in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region, and offers a competitive tax environment.

We also have a diverse economy and industry base, which supports more than 800 businesses. We offer an established business community that can support any new business investment, regardless of their industry sector focus.

Located within Leduc County is Edmonton International Airport (YEG), Nisku Business Park and Capital Power’s Genesee Generating Station. These key economic drivers and other notable investments provide thousands of jobs to people in the region.

  • Aliya's Foods
    At their 45,000 square-foot plant in Nisku Business Park, Aliya's Foods produces a growing line-up of Indian-inspired dishes available across North America.

  • Amazon YEG1 Fulfilment Centre
    Leduc County is home to the second Amazon Fulfilment Centre in Alberta. The $120 million investment was approved in 2018 for a one-million-square-foot fulfillment centre which employs more than 600 people. The Amazon facility is the focal point of a new transportation and logistics hub in the County.

  • Rig Hand Distillery
    A fixture in Nisku Business Park for the last seven years, Rig Hand Distillery will be opening a new, larger location in April 2023.

  • The Little Potato Company
    The Little Potato Company has started construction of a $25 million, 200,000-square-foot packaging facility and head office in Nisku Business Park. Operations are scheduled to begin in May 2023.
